Grand Sumo Tournament Tickets

September Tournament 2026 Price List

Here's a quick overview of how our ticket packages work:

  • Orders for the 2026 September Grand Sumo Tournament at the Kokugikan in Tokyo, Japan, are open until August 5.

  • You don't pay anything upfront. We only ask that if we're successful in securing your tickets, you commit to completing the purchase. Because these seats are reserved specifically for you, it can be very difficult for us to resell them if someone backs out.

  • It can take a few days, up to a week or a little more, after the general sale to find out if we were successful in your ticket request. Please be patient during this time while we wait for our partners in Japan to go through all the tickets and match them with customers.

  • We can request tickets for any day, but weekdays generally have a much better chance of getting better seats than weekends.

  • Please understand that Tokyo tournament tickets are extremely high in demand, so we cannot guarantee that we will be able to fulfill your request. For this reason, we don’t ask you to pay anything up front. We do have a high success rate with our partners in Japan, however, so we’ll work hard to get the tickets you requested, or if possible, try to find an alternative option.

What's included?

These are premium teahouse ticket packages, so every ticket includes exclusive extras that aren't usually available to overseas visitors.

Box Seats & Chair Seats

  • Bento meal

  • Drinks service

  • Souvenir bag

The souvenir bags are the ones you often see ushers delivering during the TV broadcasts. Contents vary from teahouse to teahouse and also from tournament to tournament, but typically include items such as sumo-themed snacks like cookies and crackers, green tea, beer, sweets, yakitori, and a commemorative gift like a cup, tumbler, towel, or more.

Tamari Ringside Seats
Food and drinks can't be served at your seat, as eating is not permitted in the ringside area. Instead, you'll receive a voucher to collect your food, drinks, and souvenir bag as you leave the arena.

Please note:

  • If you book a 4-person box with only 2 or 3 people attending, you'll still receive food, drinks, and souvenir bags for all four seats. The same applies for the 6-person box.

  • Chair seats include one meal, drink, and souvenir bag per ticket.
